SUSTAINABILITY – A BIG WORD

What does that mean? What does sustainability mean to us? I have many questions about it, and I've already found answers to some of them. In this blog, I collect the various aspects that are very important to me and to apfelgrün when it comes to clothing.

How will we shop in the future? 👚👕👜👝

This was one of the questions posed to European consumers by French textile institutes in a recent study. The top three answers were: "less and better," "more sustainable products," and in third place, "buying more used clothing." Second-hand clothing is trendy. I used to be unable to pass a second-hand shop, but today my fashion motto clearly aligns with "less and better," and sustainable too. It's also important to me to focus on seasonless clothing . I like to wear summer skirts in the fall with thick tights and boots. My second-hand dresses are the clothes I treated myself to decades ago and still wear today.

And when I think of online shopping, I picture piles of packages in front of me, precious empty boxes that don't fit in the recycling bin. To protect our environment, we simply reuse boxes. We don't have space problems because we can fold them and stack them easily.

We transform fabric scraps into "stoffreich." Our valuable leftover materials are continually reused to create new, long-lasting products. For example, as pocket squares for gentlemen, scrunchies, velour scarves, or lavender sachets—simply high-quality accessories.

Fair production

Our fashion is fair, meaning it is produced under fair product and humane working conditions. Fair fashion promises fair pay, safe workplaces, regulated working hours, no child labor, and the prevention of health risks, as well as the right to unionize. We know our long-standing producers personally, their production facilities, and their working conditions. Through direct dialogue with them, we ensure that our models are always manufactured under fair conditions.
